Are you passionate about community engagement, cultural exchange, and creating welcoming spaces for families?

Join Niteo Africa Society as a Community Event Volunteer and help bring the Stories Around the World family event to life in Kelowna. This in-person opportunity is perfect for individuals who enjoy working with families, supporting creative activities, and contributing to a vibrant, inclusive community experience.


As a volunteer, you’ll help ensure the event runs smoothly and feels warm, fun, and inviting for children and parents from diverse backgrounds.


Location: In-person — Kelowna, BC

Commitment: One-day event (5 hours)

  • February 16, 2026 | 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM

  • April 11, 2026 | 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM

(Volunteers may choose one date)


Key Responsibilities

  • Event Set-Up & Tear-Down

    • Assist with preparing the venue before the event

    • Support clean-up and closing activities after the event

  • Registration & Welcome Support

    • Greet families and help with attendee registration

    • Provide basic event information and directions

  • Activity & Craft Stations

    • Assist facilitators at various craft and activity stations

    • Help create a fun, safe, and engaging environment for children

  • Hospitality & Refreshments

    • Support refreshment serving and basic hospitality needs

    • Help maintain a welcoming and organized event space


What We’re Looking For

  • Ages 16+

  • Friendly, reliable, and comfortable working with children and families

  • Willing to assist where needed in a fast-paced community event setting

No prior experience required!


What You’ll Gain

Event Details

  • Event Name: Stories Around the World – Family Event

  • Location: Metro Hub, Kelowna

  • Volunteer Hours: 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM

  • Estimated Attendance: 50–100 participants

  • Dress Code: Casual (volunteer t-shirt provided)

  • Training: No prior meeting or training required
