Are you passionate about supporting families in your community?

Join Partageons l’Espoir, a Montreal-based nonprofit dedicated to strengthening its community through inclusive food programs and educational activities for children. This in-person Community Food Bank Supprt volunteer opportunity offers hands-on experience in a welcoming, community-focused environment while directly supporting individuals and families accessing the food bank.


Volunteers play a vital role in ensuring members receive food with dignity, care, and efficiency.


Location: 625 Fortune Street, Montreal

Opportunity Type: In-person

Time Commitment: ~3 hours per month


Operating Hours

  • Monday to Wednesday: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM

  • Thursday: 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM


Requirements

  • 18 years old or older

  • Ability to stand and move for the duration of a shift (3 hours)

  • Ability to lift light to moderate loads (for certain roles)

  • Ability to communicate in English and French (required for reception role; reading English/French required for basket preparation)

  • Reliable, team-oriented, and community-minded


Available Coordinator Roles:

  1. Food Basket Preparation Coordinator

    Support Needed: Varies by day and time

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Prepare food baskets for members

    • Stock shelves and organize food items

    • Support general food bank operations

    • Collaborate with staff and volunteers to ensure smooth distribution

    • Be part of a dynamic and welcoming team

    Requirements:

    • 18+

    • Ability to read French and English

    • Must be mobile (standing, moving, occasional lifting)


  2. Food Bank Operations Coordinator

    Support Needed: Varies by day and time

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Unload delivery trucks and transport boxes

    • Package fruits and vegetables

    • Sort food items and assist with inventory flow

    • Prepare the food bank space for distribution

    • Support on-site operations alongside staff and volunteers

    Requirements:

    • 18+

    • Must be mobile (standing, moving, occasional lifting)


  3. Community Reception & Member Services Coordinator

Support Needed: Varies by day and time

Key Responsibilities:

  • Welcome members upon arrival

  • Guide members to appropriate stations

  • Assist members using iPads during their food bank visit

  • Call numbers when orders are ready

  • Support member flow and provide general assistance

  • Contribute to a positive and respectful experience for all

Requirements:

  • 18+

  • Comfortable sitting and standing

  • Ability to speak English and French (additional languages are an asset)
