Join Partageons l’Espoir, a Montreal-based nonprofit dedicated to strengthening its community through inclusive food programs and educational activities for children. This in-person Community Food Bank Supprt volunteer opportunity offers hands-on experience in a welcoming, community-focused environment while directly supporting individuals and families accessing the food bank.
Volunteers play a vital role in ensuring members receive food with dignity, care, and efficiency.
Location: 625 Fortune Street, Montreal
Opportunity Type: In-person
Time Commitment: ~3 hours per month
Operating Hours
Monday to Wednesday: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Thursday: 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Requirements
18 years old or older
Ability to stand and move for the duration of a shift (3 hours)
Ability to lift light to moderate loads (for certain roles)
Ability to communicate in English and French (required for reception role; reading English/French required for basket preparation)
Reliable, team-oriented, and community-minded
Available Coordinator Roles:
Food Basket Preparation Coordinator
Support Needed: Varies by day and time
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare food baskets for members
Stock shelves and organize food items
Support general food bank operations
Collaborate with staff and volunteers to ensure smooth distribution
Be part of a dynamic and welcoming team
Requirements:
18+
Ability to read French and English
Must be mobile (standing, moving, occasional lifting)
Food Bank Operations Coordinator
Support Needed: Varies by day and time
Key Responsibilities:
Unload delivery trucks and transport boxes
Package fruits and vegetables
Sort food items and assist with inventory flow
Prepare the food bank space for distribution
Support on-site operations alongside staff and volunteers
Requirements:
18+
Must be mobile (standing, moving, occasional lifting)
Community Reception & Member Services Coordinator
Support Needed: Varies by day and time
Key Responsibilities:
Welcome members upon arrival
Guide members to appropriate stations
Assist members using iPads during their food bank visit
Call numbers when orders are ready
Support member flow and provide general assistance
Contribute to a positive and respectful experience for all
Requirements:
18+
Comfortable sitting and standing
Ability to speak English and French (additional languages are an asset)
