Join Pets and Friends as a Social Media Administrator and help increase awareness of the organization’s pet therapy programs throughout the Lower Mainland. This remote volunteer opportunity is ideal for creative and organized individuals interested in social media strategy, content creation, digital engagement, and nonprofit communications.

Location: Remote – Organization based in Vancouver, British Columbia

Schedule: Flexible

Requirements

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficiency with Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube

  • Experience using Canva or similar design and content creation tools

  • Ability to create written, photographic, graphic, and video content

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and represent the organization professionally

  • Basic knowledge of WordPress or another website content management system is considered an asset

  • Interest in pet therapy, nonprofit communications, or community engagement

Key Responsibilities

Social Media Management

  • Develop and maintain a social media content calendar

  • Create, schedule, and publish content across the organization’s social media platforms

  • Maintain consistent branding, messaging, and visual identity

  • Monitor and respond to comments, messages, and inquiries as appropriate

  • Stay informed about social media trends, tools, and best practices

Content Creation and Storytelling

  • Create engaging written, photographic, graphic, and video content

  • Highlight volunteer teams, therapy animals, client success stories, community partnerships, special events, and fundraising campaigns

  • Produce and edit short-form videos for social media

  • Coordinate content collection from staff, volunteers, and community partners

Website and Digital Engagement

  • Promote website content through social media channels

  • Support initiatives that increase website traffic and online engagement

  • Assist with website content updates when required

  • Help connect social media platforms with the organization’s website and digital communications tools

Community Awareness and Growth

  • Increase awareness of Pets and Friends’ programs and services

  • Support volunteer recruitment and retention campaigns

  • Promote fundraising initiatives, events, and community partnerships

  • Identify opportunities to increase audience reach and engagement

Reporting and Evaluation

  • Monitor social media performance and audience metrics

  • Prepare reports on follower growth, engagement, reach, website referrals, and campaign performance

  • Recommend strategies to improve digital communications and achieve organizational goals
