Japanese-Speaking Cultural Exchange Volunteer – COSTI (Toronto)

Are you passionate about cultural exchange, community support, and helping international youth feel welcome in Canada?

Join COSTI as a Japanese-Speaking Cultural Exchange Volunteer and support visiting Japanese youth students as they learn about Canadian culture and navigate daily communication. This in-person volunteer opportunity allows you to create a welcoming environment while helping students feel confident asking questions, practicing English, and engaging in cultural exchange.

Commitment: Approximately 15 hours total

Dates: March 30 – April 10

Shift Time: 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Location: In-person – Toronto, Ontario

Requirements:

• Must be at least 18 years old (preferred)

• Fluency in English and Japanese

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Interest in cultural exchange and supporting international students

• Ability to create a welcoming and supportive learning environment

• Experience in interpretation, youth support, or cross-cultural programs is an asset but not required

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist Japanese youth students with informal interpretation and communication

• Help students better understand Canadian culture and daily interactions

• Create a welcoming, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions

• Support cultural exchange activities and conversations with participants

• Help ensure students feel included and supported throughout the program
