Are you passionate about mentorship, science education, and supporting Indigenous youth in a meaningful learning environment?

Join the UBC Summer Science Program as a Summer Science Program Volunteer and help create an enriching, culturally safe, and confidence-building experience for Indigenous high school students exploring health and science pathways. This in-person opportunity allows you to support youth programming while sharing your academic journey, experiences, and passions with students on the UBC Vancouver campus.
Commitment: Approximately 16 hours/week from August 1–15, 2026
Mandatory Training: In-person training on July 22 and July 24, 2026
Location: In-person – UBC Vancouver Campus, Vancouver
Requirements:
Must have graduated from high school
Friendly, supportive, and comfortable working with youth
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Interest in mentorship, education, health sciences, or community engagement
Ability to participate in culturally safe and respectful environments
Key Responsibilities:
Student Mentorship & Support
Support a positive, affirming, and confidence-building environment for students
Interact with students and share your academic, cultural, and lived experiences
Encourage student engagement, participation, and connection throughout the program
Program Activities & Community Engagement
Participate in workshops, Talking Circles, cultural activities, and community discussions
Engage respectfully with Elders, Indigenous facilitators, students, and staff
Support culturally safe and inclusive programming experiences
Event & Program Support
Provide supervision during workshops, field trips, and UBC campus tours
Assist staff with workshop setup and takedown, meal preparation, photography, and student graduation events
Help support smooth daily program operations
What You’ll Gain:
