Are you passionate about inclusion, recreation, and creating meaningful experiences for children, youth, and adults with disabilities?

Join Between Friends as a Programs Volunteer or Camp Volunteer and help create welcoming, engaging, and inclusive recreational experiences for participants of all abilities. This in-person opportunity allows you to build leadership and community engagement skills while making a meaningful impact through recreation and connection.
Locations:
Programs Volunteer: Various locations throughout Calgary
Camp Volunteer: Thorncliffe (NE), Sandy Beach (SW), or Willow Ridge (SE)
Commitment:
Programs Volunteer:
2–3 hours per week, once weekly, for an 8-week seasonal session
Camp Volunteer:
June 29 – August 21, 2026
Minimum 5-day commitment during the 8-week summer camp period
Full-day camp schedule: approximately 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Requirements:
Programs Volunteers: Minimum age 16
Camp Volunteers: Minimum age 12
Friendly, reliable, and inclusive attitude
Comfortable participating in recreational and group activities
Interest in supporting individuals with disabilities
Strong teamwork and communication skills
Volunteer Opportunities Available:
W.E.S.O.A.R Program Volunteer
Support children, youth, and adults with disabilities during evening and weekend recreational programs.
Support participants during sports, games, swimming, outings, and social activities
Encourage inclusion, participation, and friendship
Assist Program Leaders with setup, supervision, and transitions
Help maintain a safe, welcoming, and positive environment
Act as a positive role model for participants
Camp Bonaventure Volunteer
Help create an engaging and inclusive summer camp experience for children and youth with and without disabilities.
Support campers during daily camp activities and transitions
Encourage teamwork, participation, and social connection
Assist staff with games, programming, and setup
Help ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all campers
Build positive relationships with campers and staff
What You’ll Gain:
