Are you passionate about inclusion, recreation, and creating meaningful experiences for children, youth, and adults with disabilities?

Join Between Friends as a Programs Volunteer or Camp Volunteer and help create welcoming, engaging, and inclusive recreational experiences for participants of all abilities. This in-person opportunity allows you to build leadership and community engagement skills while making a meaningful impact through recreation and connection.


Locations:

  • Programs Volunteer: Various locations throughout Calgary

  • Camp Volunteer: Thorncliffe (NE), Sandy Beach (SW), or Willow Ridge (SE)


Commitment:

  • Programs Volunteer:

    • 2–3 hours per week, once weekly, for an 8-week seasonal session

  • Camp Volunteer:

    • June 29 – August 21, 2026

    • Minimum 5-day commitment during the 8-week summer camp period

    • Full-day camp schedule: approximately 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM


Requirements:

  • Programs Volunteers: Minimum age 16

  • Camp Volunteers: Minimum age 12

  • Friendly, reliable, and inclusive attitude

  • Comfortable participating in recreational and group activities

  • Interest in supporting individuals with disabilities

  • Strong teamwork and communication skills


Volunteer Opportunities Available:

  • W.E.S.O.A.R Program Volunteer

    • Support children, youth, and adults with disabilities during evening and weekend recreational programs.

    • Support participants during sports, games, swimming, outings, and social activities

    • Encourage inclusion, participation, and friendship

    • Assist Program Leaders with setup, supervision, and transitions

    • Help maintain a safe, welcoming, and positive environment

    • Act as a positive role model for participants

  • Camp Bonaventure Volunteer

    • Help create an engaging and inclusive summer camp experience for children and youth with and without disabilities.

    • Support campers during daily camp activities and transitions

    • Encourage teamwork, participation, and social connection

    • Assist staff with games, programming, and setup

    • Help ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all campers

    • Build positive relationships with campers and staff


What You’ll Gain:
