Are you passionate about community connection, health advocacy, and making a meaningful difference for people impacted by cancer?

Join Wellspring Alberta as a Community Connector volunteer and help build awareness, connection, and access to cancer support services across Alberta. This remote volunteer opportunity is ideal for compassionate, people-focused individuals who want to strengthen local support networks while contributing to a province-wide mission of care and connection.
Commitment: Ongoing (flexible)
Location: Remote, with community focus in Red Deer, Lethbridge, and Grande Prairie
Requirements:
Ages 18+
Comfortable communicating with community members
Interest in health, community engagement, or advocacy
No clinical background required
Key Responsibilities:
Community Outreach & Awareness
Act as an ambassador for Wellspring Alberta by sharing information about programs, services, and supports
Build awareness by distributing brochures and posters, attending information booths, and connecting with healthcare providers and community organizations
Deliver informal presentations and conversations to promote Wellspring’s services within your community
Member Support & Connection
Support patients, caregivers, and family members in registering as Wellspring members and accessing programs
Conduct new member welcome calls and help individuals navigate Wellspring and broader cancer support resources
Build relationships that help foster localized cancer support communities
Collaboration & Program Support
Support Wellspring programming online and/or in person (as available)
Liaise with the Wellspring team lead to share community insights, gaps, opportunities, and ideas
Assist with identifying local support services to be added to Wellspring’s resource listings
Attend bi-weekly Community Connector meetings (Zoom – required)
Optional participation in peer support meetings for additional learning and connection

Compassionate, reliable, and community-minded
Comfortable communicating with individuals from diverse backgrounds
Interested in health, community development, or nonprofit work
Able to work independently while staying connected with a larger team
Open to learning and sharing feedback to strengthen local support systems
