Community Outreach Volunteer – Volunteer Toronto (Toronto)

Volunteer Toronto is looking for Community Outreach Volunteers to help connect people with volunteer opportunities and resources at community events across Toronto.
As a Community Outreach Volunteer, you’ll support Volunteer Toronto staff at events, fairs, farmers’ markets, and other community gatherings. You’ll help set up information tables, answer questions about volunteering, direct people to helpful resources, and engage with community members from diverse backgrounds.
This is a great opportunity to build your communication, interpersonal, and community engagement skills while helping more people discover ways to get involved in their communities.
Commitment:
Type: Flexible, ongoing volunteer opportunity
Frequency: Approximately 4–6 hours per month
Schedule: Varies depending on event dates and times; choose events based on your availability
Format: In-person
Volunteers Needed: 2
Requirements:
Friendly, respectful, and punctual
Good verbal communication skills in English
Comfortable connecting with people and answering questions
Available to volunteer in person at events on varying dates and times
Willing and able to travel within Toronto (TTC transportation will be reimbursed)
What You’ll Do:
Support Volunteer Toronto staff at information tables during community events, fairs, farmers’ markets, and other gatherings
Help set up event materials, including tablecloths, pamphlets, signage, and other supplies
Answer attendees’ questions about Volunteer Toronto’s work and how to find volunteer opportunities
Direct community members to Volunteer Toronto’s resources and additional support
Track and report the number of people engaged at events
Connect with people of diverse ages, backgrounds, and experiences
What You’ll Gain:
Gain practical experience in community outreach, communication, and public engagement while working alongside a passionate and friendly team of staff and volunteers. You’ll have the opportunity to attend Volunteer Toronto’s in-house training and receive confirmation of your volunteer hours and references when needed.

Additional Information:
This is an accessible, in-person volunteer opportunity. Events take place at different locations across Toronto, and volunteers can select opportunities based on their availability and preferred location. TTC tickets will be reimbursed.
