Are you a qualified mental health professional who wants to make a meaningful, immediate impact in your community?

Join Parkland Turning Points Society as a Mental Health Counsellor / Therapist and support adults affected by intimate partner violence through compassionate, trauma-informed care. This in-person opportunity allows you to provide focused 1:1 counselling and group support in a setting grounded in dignity, safety, and hope.
Location: In-person - Stony Plain, Alberta
Commitment: 3–6 hours per week
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet one of the following pathways and hold appropriate liability insurance:
Registered Psychologist (R.Psych) or Registered Social Worker (clinical scope) in independent practice
Provisional Psychologist with a CAP-approved external supervisor who assumes liability (supervision plan + letter required)
Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) with a Master’s degree and CCPA registration
Master’s-level mental health counsellor between practicum completion and provisional registration (case-by-case, with documentation permitting unsupervised client work)
Key Responsibilities
Therapeutic Support
Provide trauma-informed 1:1 counselling to adults impacted by intimate partner violence
Optionally co-lead men’s or women’s group programming
Support clients in building safety, emotional regulation, and connection—often within the first few sessions
Clinical Practice & Documentation
Complete site orientation covering IPV dynamics, safety and risk protocols, documentation standards, and Jane EMR workflows
Maintain ethical, timely, and client-centered documentation
Work within clear protocols that support both client and clinician wellbeing
