Are you passionate about community events, recognition initiatives, and creating meaningful impact through service?

Join NiGiNan Housing Ventures as a Heart of the City Awards Brunch Event Support Volunteer and help support a community-centered event celebrating frontline workers, changemakers, and community leaders in Edmonton. This one-time, in-person opportunity allows you to contribute to a meaningful Indigenous-led gathering focused on recognition, storytelling, reconciliation, and collective community impact.


Commitment: One-time event – May 31, 2026

Location: Northeast River Valley Park Event Centre – 903 153 Ave NE, Edmonton, AB


Event Information:

  • Event Time: 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM (Volunteers may be needed 1–2 hours before and after the event for setup and takedown support)

  • Estimated Attendance: Approximately 100–150 attendees

  • Volunteers will be contacted directly by NiGiNan Housing Ventures regarding onboarding, scheduling, and coordination prior to the event

  • The Heart of the City Awards Brunch is rooted in Indigenous values of kindness, honesty, sharing, and strength


Requirements:

  • Friendly, professional, organized, and dependable

  • Comfortable working in a collaborative team environment

  • Interest in events, leadership, nonprofit work, or community engagement

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Casual professional / event-appropriate attire required


Key Responsibilities:

  • Guest Services & Registration

    • Welcome guests and help create a warm, inclusive environment

    • Assist with registration and attendee check-in

    • Direct attendees and answer general questions throughout the event

  • Event Operations & Logistics

    • Support event setup and takedown before and after the event

    • Help maintain organized event spaces during brunch and presentations

    • Assist with attendee flow, seating, and transitions throughout programming

  • Vendor, Speaker & Community Support

    • Support vendors, speakers, and event organizers as needed

    • Assist during networking, storytelling, and awards presentations

    • Help contribute to a positive and respectful event atmosphere
